Description

The Datacake Pygate LTE is a fully assembled Pycom Pygate with Gpy LTE module prepared for immediate use. You do not need any additional components, software or need to do any programming (unless you want to). All you need for the start-up is a free power outlet.

Easy installation

Thanks to the LTE CAT M1 mode of the Pycom Gpy, a connection to the Internet is automatically established. A 1NCE SIM card is included and comes with 500 Megabyte data volume, which is sufficient for a runtime of more than one year via LTE (with about 10 - 15 LoRaWAN devices).

No monthly costs

There is no monthly fee for running Datacake Pygate. If the data volume is used up, another 500 megabytes can be purchased for 10€.

Other functions

Extended by Datacake Firmware

We have developed our own firmware for the Pygate, which takes care of starting and maintaining the actual gateway firmware in the form of a "wrapper". This ensures that the gateway reboots itself in case of connection failures or other events and reconnects to the LTE network and the LoRaWAN server.

Datacake Gateway Monitoring

The gateway is delivered with a SIM card from 1NCE, which comes with a worldwide prepaid tariff and 500 Megabyte data volume. This is enough for a term of a little more than one year

FAQs

Why LTE CAT M1 and not NB-IoT

In Germany there are LTE CAT M1 and NB-IoT. The latter is a mobile radio standard, which is more suitable for battery-powered sensors that occasionally send data to the server.

However, a LoRaWAN gateway requires a continuous IP connection to a gateway server. This is made possible by the use of LTE CAT M1, as this standard is new but derived from the LTE standard.

Can I program Pygate and Pycom Gpy myself?

Of course the open implementation of the Pycom modules remains. You can program the modules yourself at any time. Just connect the Gpy to your computer and install the corresponding software from Pycom. You can find more information here:
